Hi all! I was browsing the Hannants website and they have a Zvezda 1:144 787 listed under Future Releases. Any info on this kit and when can we expect it? Also, they have a Revell Lufthansa A380 listed. Cheers! Vinny |

Yes interesting, according to Hannants the catalogue number is 7008. The 767 is 7005, so I wonder what 7006 and 7007 are? Perhaps and IL62 and a TU-144?? Dreams are free I guess. But the Revel Lufthansa A380 is logical, given that Lufthansa is close to getting theirs, and what better chance for Revell to flick off a few kits in the national carriers livery! cheers George |

Maybe one of them is an MD-11 w/ tug and baggage carts... Martinair & KLM liveries included. Quote Forgive my ignorance, but the A380 comes with two different motors.. Does anyone know which carriers are using which motors? Perhaps I should check my kit... I thought it only had one engine type. I like those new AF decals but I think AF uses a different motor. |

Quote AF uses EA' GP7200's. LH uses RR. The Revell Kit has the same nacelle for both engine types but different fans and exhaust cones to depict the GP7200 and RR Trent 900's. I don't think this is accurate, but of course the revell kit came out in 2002, well before details of the real thing were in the public domain. I think revell did a good job, but if you want better engines, I'd say go with the Heller kit. Besides the Heller kit is huge! For the ones in service, QF = RR, EK = EA, SQ = RR. For others yet to receive their 380's, AF = EA, LH = RR, EY = EA But getting back to the 787 kit (sorry for going off topic), if Zvezda is doing a kit, then they sure are going head to head with Revell. Lets hope there is some common sense and Revell does the 787-8 and Zvezda the 787-9. Unless of course they have done a deal with Revell and are simply repackaging revell plastic in Russia!! Who knows? Time will tell I guess. Cheers George |

The 787 box was disclosed few days ago at Moscow Toys Exhibision (for professionals only, so I could'n attend it). Only box was demonstrated, without any sprues etc. You can see part of this box at background here: http://www.dishmodels.ru/gshowp.htm?p=6109&id=72450 |

Quote I think Revell had intended to release theirs this year, but I also heard that it will be next year. But it certainly looks like Zvezda has come to the party as well! Would have been nice to see an IL-62 from Zvezda but I am happy with anything from them because I think they are very good. Their TU-160 Blackjack is a nice kit. cheers George |

Quote Just searched the ZVEZDA webside and catalogue # 7003 isn't yet assigned.... Or their numbers 7006 & 7007 will be military kit releases (e.g. 7002 Tupolev TU-160)? Sven |

Quote 7003 is the 1/125 A320 kit they issued, which was a reissue of the Heller Kit. It is quite fitting that the 787 is going to be 7008, kind of goes with 787! I know probably just coincidence. But I am very intrigued to know what 7006 & 7007 are... I hope the 787 is a New Zvezda tooling, so far they have more than met expecations with the IL86, TU154 and 767 kits. |

Quote Oh wow! I sure hope there are no major changes to the aircraft before it flies! I am happy to see that they are producing it too, and it gives us more than one option when choosing to build the type. One has to wonder though. Who will have better quality, Revell or Zvezda? I have not built or gotten the 767 yet, but the picture you posted sure makes my mouth water. I have to admit, Aeroflot looks hecka sexy in that livery. Is Aeroflot flying into SEA anymore? |

I think Zvezda desided to skim the cream while Revell still postponing its 787. No doubt, in 1/144 scale Zvezda turned to European market from Russian one. They had established cooperation with Boeing, so what surprise from Zvezda can we wait? 777? MD11? Who knows?

99% Revell tooling. The 767 thing was, because it was not a revell tool, it was one from ACE, revell only leased it from time to time. Why should they work on a 787 parallel? they shared so many toolings, i guess they will continue with this! Atari |

Not the 767. They could not share the tooling, because it wasnt from revell. They only leased it from ACE, thats why Zvezda made its own. They shared the Mi-8, IL-86, Mig-31, Mi-24 and many more... Atari |

Before i see the online catalogue of Hannants,i expecting from Revell (?) to make the production first of 787 not Zvezda.Anyway ,for me,Revell and Zvezda ,are the best , so far.. happy modeling to all miss Nina |

The 787 from Zvezda sure is a surprise, and if it is true that it will be released soon, then that is fastest release of a model kit I have ever heard of. I wonder how long they have been working on this project. Can't wait to see sprue shots of it. George EDIT: Here's a link to Dragon Models USA that has a pic. Dragon Models Details read: The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a mid-sized, wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner currently under development by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Its maximum seating capacity in a one-class configuration is between 290 to 330 passengers depending on variant. Boeing states that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners and will be the first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction. This kit features: - 76 parts in 3 sprues. - Decal of Boeing original livery BRING IT ON!!!! |

Revell may learn a lesson from Zvezda! No doubt Zvezda has the nose in front! Quote Yepp! It will take a while until the 787 is in service. But how will American finish their 787s? There's no natural metal on the fuselage or vertical fin to polish to a shine. If they do what they did on their A300-600Rs, they will look like big grey battleships. The grey A300s were so unpopular that Airbus had to invent a special procedure just for AA to allow them to strip the aircraft back to bare metal (at great expense). J |

Quote Yepp! That's why Lufthansa rejected their bare metal scheme in mid 80's - too expensive for their A300 fleet. But - if Zvezda is out now with the 787 (and fantastic engines!!!!) - do you believe Revell will release the 787-kit anyway? Or will Revell be no match for Zvezda? Or maybe Revell will cancel the 787 kit? What do you think? My opinion: I would prefer Zvezda (even if I didn't see the Revell sprues yet but can't imagine Revell will have comparable engines). According the instrution sheet the fans seems to be rotating! Just like real! And - Zvezda is number one. Sven |

Quote Why, Alclad II, of course! ;) With American's BAC One-Elevens 45 years ago, BAC relented a little and AA got their bare metal. Except, that is, for the centre section where wing and fuselage met. There, (waa-a-it for it..!) a _foil_sticker_ was used to cover the substantial bits which BAC would not, never, ever, nohow allow to be stripped down to bare. The foil is visible very clearly in photos and, as far as I know, never gave any delamination or other problems. No news to us modellers, though! |

Yeah, I was thinking about something along the lines of the last NWA scheme. I think that was sort of a pearlescent silvery-grey paint. I think the AA scheme would look fine on that, but not on plain old BAC 707 Gray. J |

Here's what I think: We find a way to introduce AA to our friends at Alclad. They strike a deal for the paint for the 787. For our part, AA will no longer sic their lawyers on us should we choose to (advertise) and make decals to depict their aircraft, and Alclad gives us airliner modelers a super discount on their paint. Why not? Alclad will make lots o' money, AA will still have the great bare metal look, even on plastic..... And to think it all started here at Airlinercafe with skippie! Keep em separated! |
