Hm, nice addition to the injected styrene 737 range, I hope it will be better than Airfix's old 737 kit.

One strange thing though : the wing trailing edge from the engine pylon to the wing tip, why are the outboard flaps 1mm further back from the ailerons ?

I just hope it will be better than their A318 kit : I had a look in my hobby shop, sprues still plastic-wrapped, looked great. Plastic wrap off, it's a pig of a kit : IMHO it's a BAD rip-off of the Revell kit, uneven surfaces, uneven recessed details, fore and aft wing-fuselage fairings too long and not asymmetrical, average Air France decals.

Let's hope this 737 kit is a better job.

I never noticed the wing trailing edge on the 1:1 model, I'll check on a.net but what I'm certain is that the nose section, on this drawing's side views, purely sucks. And the engines are of the prototype type.

If it's anything like the rest of EE's 737's, you would be well advised to keep your money in your pocket and give it a wide berth. I'm struggling with their 737-500 and have narrowly avoided throwing it at the wall a couple of times. The fit of the parts is dreadful and the model currently comprises almost a 1:1 ratio of filler to plastic. Speaking of Eastern Express, I must remember to put the garbage out tonight......

Why EASTERN EXPRESS models are so much expensive if we compare with another models?

Let's give a try on this old school.

Ok ok, I NEVER said their A318 was a BAD rip-off of the Revell kit, uneven surfaces, uneven recessed details, fore and aft wing-fuselage fairings too long and not asymmetrical, average Air France decals

This one's interesting, some parts look extremely close to the Minicraft kit such as the engine sprue which has 2 extra parts vs Minicraft, the wing sprue has 1 extra part (-200LR/-300ER wingtip ?) BUT the landing gear sprue is a lot improved, from the pics of course. And the separated front and rear fuselage sections will undoubtedly lead to -200 and -300 variants.

I hope Karel won't read this topic

I'm now dreaming of a nice Aeroflot "puke" decal sheet, something better than Brasil's nonsense, I really LUV that livery !

Thank you Babay for these interesting pics !

What a minicraft rip off!
They even converted the same mistakes...

The shape of the wing box is wrong.
The flap fairings are too thick.
The engines are exact replica's of the minicraft kit.
The tailcone is wrong.
I could go on I think...

The only thing that is interesting is the landing gear, but even that is not remotely accurate to the real one...

Sorry I am not impressed at all!

Quality wins!

Finally I'm at home, to draw a parallels and put an end to the intrigue of the day. Jumping ahead, no great surprises .
So, everything is in the best traditions of EE. At this time we see the modified copy based on Minicraft's kit:
- revised joint of the wing halves, as a result we should have a thin trailing edge;
- additional detail on the sprue next to the wings, looks like wingtips for -300 release;
- thinned at the edges engine pylons;
- extra details for the engine hot part cone (possibly);
- reworked rudder fairings, more acceptable;
- rescribed tail (at the same incorrect tail form);
- another nose section, looks like more correct;
- modified landing gears and pneumatics...

This is all that I can say from the photos. Everything else is Minicraft with all other errors, as outlined our colleagues.

Assuming the possible price of the kit and amount of the improvements, I'm probably not impressed too.

P.S. Previous novelty is already on the market.

True, even my BMW M73 engine wouldn't do it.

But seriously, I have great memories of my DC-10 flights, take offs felt SO powerful, same applies to the MD-11, and even the Fokker 70 (whenever I fly to Amsterdam I go KLM Fokker 70s, I just luv them), I don't know if it has to do with the rear mounted engine(s).

"Jawbreakers" candy scheme is actually nicer than "puke"

So you like the Aeroflot 777 livery too ? I thought I was the only one to like it, I bought long time ago the Brasil Decals sheet but it's hopeless, being sealed under a thick, slightly yellowed and probably breakable coat. And try decal an integral GE90 nacelle ("cubic" compound curves) with this psychedelic decal...

Hey, that's funny! Ivo's TU-134A was the one and only 144 scale kit for a loooooooooong time....with some small mistakes but at least a TU-134 in 144!
And now we have a wide selection of TU-134's within a short time: RusAir (in different variations, resin w/o clear parts, resin with clear window parts, styrene), the AZ-kit, still the BraZ-kit ...and now ladies and gentlemen: The new Eastern Express 1/144 scale styrene TU-134 kit with clear window parts!
That's the best of all: clear windows!

Looking forward for EE's 1/144 scale AN-24!

Nice, but I hope it doesn't ruin Zvezda's plan to produce a Il-18 if they had that plan. It would surprise me if this kit would be of the same quality of Zvezda's kits. Can't judge from experience though as I have never had one off Eastern Express' kits in my hands.

I expressed my view of the EE A318 in another thread. Having spent good money on that particular piece of junk I have no intention of giving them another opportunity to rip me off with a bad clone of an already indifferent kit. If a model is available from another manufacturer I'll buy from that other manufacturer. If a model is only available from EE I'll do without it.

When I saw the title "Unexpected Surprise From Eastern Express!", I thought someone had got one of their kits where all the parts were well moulded and actually fitted together.

If they have such plans, it will be something! Don't fool yourself ;) , this kit couldn't be the same quality with Zvezda's kits (different molding techniques). But this is a good starting material for building and who builds!

. Actually, at the beginning there were surprises without any warnings. But then they started making announcements and the meaning of the title was lost.

Okay guys, here's my opinion about EE kit quality:
It seems EE and Amodel use the same molds - at least for selected kits. AN-2, AN-14 and AN-28 are identical kits from both just different decals included and different box art. ...and a little price variation
The new TU-134A/B from EE is a very nice kit! With fine engraved panel lines and a very delicate landing gear! Perhaps a bit too delicate and fragile - can't believe it will resist. Let's see, if necessary it has to be reinforced..but all in all a very nice kit in very good quality!
If EE's AN-24B and forthcoming IL-18 edition is in the same quality we can be satisfied!

Despite all the bad critiques on the EE 737- ''100'' I ordered one. I'm just curious and I haven't seen another 737 kit with a cockpit in it yet. My plan is to put the engines of an Airfix -200 on it and use the EE engines on the Airfix model. Or is this a stupid idea?
