Hi All,

I've just noticed that Two Six has released one of my favourite schemes for Thai's 777 in the wrap around.
I would like to do it in 1/200 scale using Haseagawas kits.

My questions are:

1. Are the decals available in 1/200, will they be or could ray print them in 1/200 (I note there is only 1/144 on his webpage.

2. As the decals are for the -200, would they fit on a -300 easily? (I beleive they should. Just need confirmation.).

3. What engines power the Thai 777-200 and -300 fleet? I've had a look on the web with no luck.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1. Ray is very helpful and has done quite a bit of custom work. You can only ask.

2. As the livery is mainly a 'wrap around' on the fuselage and the logo on the fin, they should fit the -300 OK. You would probably need extra windows for the 'stretch' -300.

3. Thai's 777's, both -200 and -300, are powered by Rolls Royce Trent engines.

I also like the Thai livery for my A330 but am hesitant to mask off the forwardmost purple band. Keeping in mind the fuselage contours, how do you plan to mask this demarcation line off so the wrap around decal and forward (purple) demarcation line are roughly in line? It is very difficult to eyeball; I have used a light mechanical pencil to make tiny marker points when masking light gray, but the thought of screwing up a dark color on white keeps my checkbook at bay.

Appreciate any thoughts

That's a good question L707. There was a trick using a book with the pencil inside and then rotating the fuselage. This was for straight lines that run down the fuselage, but these bands look a little bit more complex. Two six decal bands are straight. So it may work and it just might be a trick of the eye?

Onto the 1/200, I spoke to Ray and he said he would not do them in the Digital Silk range as he believes he would not sell 100 units. He did offer to do in laser which means it would not print metallic. Looks like I may have to go down the 1/144 route.
