Ah well, Boeing finally got the domestic bite it was looking for - Continental just sprang for ten of the -8 long range model. Apparently there's a Las Vegas based charter line also negotiating for 20 7E7s but I didn't see any mention of which model.

Do you mean Primaris? They announced an order for 20 7E7-8 2 months ago. http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2004/q4/nr_041021g.html Anyway, nice for Continental. I hope they will fly them to Amsterdam in 2009. In progress: |

Well, it was going to happen sooner or later. Good that it happened sooner. This is just a start. I'm sure Continental will order a lot more of them. Other US carriers will follow, especially American: to replace their A300s with the -3 version. As soon as the health of the industry gets a little better we'll see a lot more orders.

Bas: I'd never heard of Primaris - it sounds more like a drug for treating menstrual cramps than an airline - but I must say that in an era of boring white whale liveries they've got a pretty interesting way of deporting their airplanes. I'd love to slap that wild post-Euclidian cheatline on one of my Revell 737-800 kits! Meanwhile, we've got enough of an idea of what this bird looks like by now. Where's the goddamned kit??? |
