You guys think maybe Argentina may win it ?
On a side note ,does Surfers Paradise still have the annual street car race ?

No the guy who bought out Indy car decided he wanted it to only be in the USA, so Surfers got cancelled, they did have a round of the V8 supercars there last year and probably again this year, but no open wheelers at this stage. On a another side note, our round of the V8 Supercars, the Townsville 400 is on next weekend.

Well with Holland and Uruguay through it is really changing now, always thought that Holland were a quality side, but didn't think they were up to beating Brazil, but the reality is that Bazil were rubbish, a bit like England.

Sorry no offense intended or meant TFIC.

With the two games tonight, it is becoming very interesting, and did I mention how much I really hate penalty shootouts to get a decision.
So is it possible to have a replay of the very first World Cup final Uruguay v Argentina, battle of the River Plate.

Glad to see that cheating little scumbag Maradonna sent back home with his tail between his legs. Good riddance. Germany showed how to win by pure skill and overcame all the fake diving and pretend injuries. They didn't need any 'Hand of God' goals either. Well done Germany!

That was an impressive display of dominance, I am still in disbelief.

Paraguay blew it today. They took the Spaniards down to the wire. Great game plan.

The biggest miscarriage of justice was when Ghana were cheated by the Uruguyan player stopping the ball from going in the net with his hand. Soccer can benefit by taking a leaf out of the rugby union rulebook where the referee can award a penalty try in instances where a try would have been scored but for infringements by the defending team. He would have been able to award a goal to Ghana and that would have put them deservedly through to the next round. Worse still was the sight of the offending player, who had been sent off, jumping for joy and celebrating when Ghana missed the penalty. He should have been ashamed of himself. What is it about that part of the world that makes cheating, diving, feigning injury, pleading to the referee for players to be booked or sent off acceptable behaviour?

I'm sure I and most of the civilized world will be rooting for Holland in the semi-final!

Well grandson had his championships over the last 5 days he plays for Cairns Sharks White under 10's
15 games over 5 days 20 mins a half, they had 13 wins 1 draw, and one loss, ended up winning the championships.

It is really taking a toll on me at the moment having all that going on as well as the World Cup games starting at midnight and 0400 each night local time, tonights is 0400, well tomorrow morning really, been getting less than 4 hrs sleep some nights, I'm really beginning to tire badly.

Uruaguay is without Suarez, so Holland really should be the form side, but they have played 23 games without loss, the last loss was to Australia in 2008, how long can they keep on winning? Is it possible Uruguay could deliver a fatal blow, hope not.

I remember when I was 10 or 11 I was center fullback. My coach told me that if the goalie is ever out of position, it is your job to stand in the goal and cover his space. Of course it was my first year, and I assumed that if I was "subbing" for the goalie, I could use my hands. Sure enough, one game goalie is lost in traffic, and I cover in his stead and make a wonderful stop! I was all smiles until they awarded a PK for the opponent. Unlike the Ghana game, our opponents scored. Coach was still happy, he said that had I not stopped it, it was a sure goal. At least we had a chance (small) with the PK.

OK now back to the World Cup discussion!

Keep em separated!

Yes! Justice is done and the cheats are sent packing. It would have been a travesty if they had got to the final. Who would have predicted an all-European final before the competition started?

OK, who is going to win?
Paul the Octopuss is in hiding
Peter or Percy the Parakeet in Singapore calls it as Holland
and Hugo the Tortoise on Australian TV called it as Spain

So we have no real consensus in the animal world, but then again peter/Percy and Hugo have no previous history of picking world cups either, so their opinions are not worth considering.

Other plan is to do some modelling when it's on, as a sort of calming effect against poor refereeing, and bring on video refs for the future, as FIFA keeps talking a load of rubbish about how it will effect the flow of the game, like handing out yellow and red cards doesn't?. BUT they are prepared to embrace new technology by bringing in mega fancy new footballs, but want to keep out video refs, what the?

Me, i'm going for Holland, even though Spain are probably on paper the form side, they have been quite patchy.

Even I wish Holland will be the winner, I don't think they have any chance against Spain. They don't have the quality of this superior team, especially in defense.
