Hello Fellow Modelers, I have been asked to build a 1/100 scale 767-200 in the grey UAL scheme. I was hoping someone would know if there is a decal in that scale available. I was also wondering what the nickname of that scheme is called. I call it the ugly scheme or the military scheme because it is grey and blue........YUK! Kind of like NWA's "Bowling Shoe" scheme........ Thanks Tom Models, try 'em.......... |

I think I've heard "battleship" or "battleship grey" before.

I think it was called "Stealth" because on a dark, gray day you couldn't see the planes at all. United was trying their best to hide them as much as possible. I'm sorry, but I think that's one of the ugliest schemes ever to adorn an airliner, probably in the top 3, if not in first place.

That's it! Now I remember and I agree with you 100%. Thanks Ahmed. I have a feeling there is no decal for it in that scale huh.
Models, try 'em.......... |

Tom, Our loved and very missed friend Dave Rider drew the "stealth" United decals for Vince's Flightpath line. He did the 767, 757, 737, 727 and 747. I have them all in 1/144 but I do not know if he ever made them in 1/100 scale. I am sure Marc Borer can do them for you. I think the 727 looked cool in that livery, but then again, the 727 looked cool in any livery. She had the sexiest wing ever! ;) I can remember what grey and blue paint I used, Hannants? Walter |

Makes sense. I'm not crazy though am I? I just googled United Airlnes battleship and came up with a ton of blue/grey pics. Either way, you're all right; not that pretty! |

Thanks guys. Yes, Hannants does supply the correct colors. Walter, that was my alternate plan to ask Mark for help. And yes, Dave did those schemes and I think you are right, they were in 1/144 only IIRC. And Steve, that is a good idea as well provided I can find a set. Is there anybody out there that can help get a set for the 747? Models, try 'em.......... |
