Highly doubtful that will be a Zvezda rebox. I've never heard of Doyusha putting anything in their box except their kits.

looking at the decals, it will have clear windows for sure. as doyusha's own 777 did not have clear windows, i guess they rebox zvezdas 787.

Quote I wouldn't say that's in any way conclusive. I could be wrong, but given that Doyusha has no history of boxing anyone else's kits, I'll believe it when I see what's in the box. They've always marched to the beat of their own drummer before, and I've not heard anything to make me think they're doing otherwise now. |

Quote How about the 1:100 Boeing 747 kit? Is it not a Nitto or Otaki kit, later reboxed by Doyusha? Anyway I would love it to be a new tool, long time Doyusha did not release something new. At least they are about to release again the very nice 767 and Tristar kits. |

Quote Same for me but I read information that they were re-releasing the 1:100 767 and Tristar kits. The Tristar kit I saw in Aviation Megastore in Oct-Nov 2011 was, I think, that new release: different box art, sharper colours and printing. I think I am going to place an order for that Doyusha 787 kit, the decal sheet being printed by Cartograf means the printing quality will be top, at least better than the Gio Decal sheet. |

Doyusha is not out of business. The kits in Doyusha boxes have been molds that Doyusha bought (ex-Nitto, Entex, Otaki), not something where they bought bagged shots from an existing manufacturer and put them in a Doyusha box. That's never happened. Not to say it couldn't be the case here, but I'd highly doubt it. Doyusha has always marched to the beat of their own drummer. |

My first thoughts are will any other kit maker do a better job for the 787 on the engines/fan blades than zvezda.??? Mmmmm I didn't think so. So who wants to pay all that dough for something that will give you a pretty decal? Unless it was tooled in Korea etc. Zvezda is your friend! Cheers Andrew Andrew |

I am placing an order for 2 kits in 1 or 2 weeks, I am curious. And it will not come more expensive than a Gio Decal sheet coz the Doyusha decal sheet is actually delivered, and you have an "extra" 787 kit with it Cheers, Steven |

I just got a reply from HLJ, they are quite speedy at answering mails: Hi, Thank you for writing in. We have asked Doyusha this question directly, and all they will say is that the molds are from Russia. They will not confirm whether it's the Zvezda tooling or not. Since Zvezda is a Russian company, I believe we can draw our own conclusions. At this time there are no sprue shots or finished model shots available. Thank you for shopping at HobbyLink Japan! We appreciate your business! Best Regards, Brian K. HobbyLink Japan So it makes for an expensive decal sheet and the Zvezda kit, we can only assume it will be very nicely printed since it comes from Cartograf. Will still place my order next week. Cheers, Steven |

Does this mean that Revell does not longer own the 787 moulds? Or do Zvezda, Revell and Doyusha each have their own copy? I remember that a few years ago there was only one mould for a model and when that one is broken or lost the model can no longer be produced.

As far as I understand, Revell only bought bagged kits (molded in white styrene, only difference) from Zvezda. I guess Zvezda still own the moulds and sold bagged kits to Doyusha as well. Those are only assumptions.

Revell never owned the molds. They bought bagged shots from Zvezda. Zvezda's prices went through the roof, which is why Revell is tooling their own 747-8.
