I'm building an FH-227 out of the Airfix Friendship kit, using a brilliant Mark Borer sheet to do a Mohawk one. I'm now ready to paint, but there's a question I need resolved: were the wings, horizontal tails and lower fuselage on Mohawk aircraft natural metal or light grey? When viewed on my monitor, the photos I've got suggest it could be either. TIA DC |

Only the lower fuselage was Gray, everything else NMF. When the -227's were originally ordered in '65 the tail was to have been just like the One-Eleven with a horizontal Black/Gold stripe but was changed to the familiar vertical prior to delivery. The (1) F-27 in the fleet did have the 1-11 style tail though....... John
