Air New Zealand has announced an update to it's livery, where new aircraft entering the fleet will have black tails instead of the blue/green and new typeface for the titles.

From a tiny picture they have released, the aircraft themselves appear to remain white, with Boeing grey bellies. (Not sure what the 787-9 will have though).

All I can say is:

Borrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggg!!!!!

not to mention, uninspiring, dull, cheap and just plain dumb. I wasn't much a fan of the all black aircraft and the loss of the teal/blue is shameful.

Sigh.

They must have hired the same designer that JAL did recently. Their tastes are in their mouth when it comes to attractive paint schemes!

Pretty much the same as when QANTAS 'revamped' their scheme a few years ago. I think they should have kept the money they spent on consultants and maybe they would still be in the black (profit wise that is).

I have seen a similar picture of the ANZ 777 and it loooked like the fuselage has the speckled finish similar to Virgin Atlantic and Jetstar. Still they could have been a bit more imaginative.
