Okay, weird question time. I really wish that the Boeing folks had stayed with the original shark tail design, if only because it looked so freaking cool! So...

Does anyone know of any decent drawings or blueprints of it? I'd maybe/possibly/could be consider CADding one up and 3D printing it. It would look amazing on a Continental 787. Yes, in my twisted world the airlines buy cool looking planes just 'cuz they're cool looking, and certain wasted mergers never happened. Heck, in my bizarre world PSA is still flying! Hmmm. A shark tailed PSA 787... Yum.

Alternately, if Kurt ever does do a 787, maybe include the shark tail?

Thank you for any pointers for diagrams and such.

      Bob

There is nothing but an artist’s concept of it. It never got as far as “blueprints”. Best you can do is wing it (so to speak).

Then I'll have to make do!!!

Is there any news on Kurt making a 787? I know it was mentioned, though how seriously and how much by him or by us, his fans I don't recall.

I just talked to Kurt and with his best regards the 787 is still on his agenda
but will not be among his next two brand new releases.

      Cheers,

      Christian

You rock. That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. THANK YOU! The smile could also have some nice shark's teeth too, to go with the tail! That would be uber cool. A smiling whimsical shark.

      Dang, I miss PSA.

Thank you! Those original concept cockpit windows look awesome. And, I hadn't realized that the horizontal stabs had some sharkiness in them, too. Thank you!

The design was given to artists first, who came up with this model. It was then passed on to the engineers and Aero and they were asked to retain as much of the look as was feasibly possible. The 787 kept some of the look, but not much!

And yes, the cockpit windows are cool!

I think the hardest part is going to be the tail. It subtly fillets into the top of the fuselage; it doesn't just sit atop it. I can CAD and print a tail, but getting it to fillet smoothly like that will be an issue. Are the winglets different? They do look somewhat different. I may have to do those, too.
