I log in, and after doing a 30 minute writeup with lots of info, photos and links, I hit submit only to find an error message along with a complete loss of everything I just did. Man, that's frustrating.

Then what happens is I make a much shorter post with less info and goodies because I dont want to spend another 20-30 minutes. So this is probably the third time this has happened and foolishly I never remember to CTRL-A/copy/paste all of what I've written into a text file.

I notice afterward I'm logged out. Does the site automatically log you out after x amount of minutes of inactivity(inactivity in this case is writing a novella)? Is there any way to change that?

      Thanks,
      Neil.

Now I'm off to try again!

It just happened again, but this time I managed to clipboard my work before clicking "Reply".

      This is the error message:

      AIRLINERCAFE.COM
      2020-03-17 01:21
Fatal error : Wrong parameter in the URL.

Again, I got logged out while typing out the post. Logged back in, pasted my post from the clipboard, hit "Reply" and the post went thru, so it's definitely a time-out issue. The "error" goes away when you don't get timed out.

      Neil,
this is a well known pitfall on this site,
to my understanding the only workaround is to copy all your text
      before hitting the send button.

Yes, it seems to be some timeout logout issue.

      Cheers,
      Christian

One workaround is to compose your text in some word processor or text program on your local device, then do a cut-and-paste into the message window here on the forum, then add your image links and so forth. I routinely do this if I have something lengthy to share here.

One question, Neil. Do you log in each time you hit the site?
Reason I ask is that I've never encountered your issue. I keep
myself logged in for 30 days (from the drop-down menu). If the
discussion is in regards to a time-out issue, maybe this is a
      factor? Just wondering.

Thanks for the responses guys. At least it's not just me. I'll make sure to write in a text file first when I'm doing a longish post.

Alan, I thought about that too. I checked for that setting in my profile and control panel but I cannot find it. Is it because I'm a basic user and don't have access to that feature?

      Thanks,
      Neil

      Neil,

I just had to log in again. From that login on the top ribbon, you should see
a couple of boxes. One is your user name, the other your password. It should then
give you an option to stay logged in for varying amounts of time in a drop-down.
Not sure if you have that option. Best source of info on this would be Ahmed.
      Good luck.

Right where you log in, look for "Remember Me" and select the desired amount of time from the dropdown. Available to everyone.

Great! But, for really long posts it's always a good idea to compose it somewhere else first, preferably in a text editor not on the net, as there are other things that can happen: internet connection drops, server gets restarted, etc. etc.
