Hi all, it's been a while since we've set one of these up. Do you all want to hop on a call again one of these weekends and chat about WIP builds and whatever else you got going on? Thinking Sat May 8 might be a good candidate.

Good news....I'm working swings so an evening call won't work for me but don't let me be the one naysayer. Got an email for Airliners....11 weeks to go...

%%@#%!!.....got quite a bit of work to go on the project(s)

I was thinking west coast morning, midday east coast, and evening in Europe, would that work?

“Evening in Europe” sounds like a beautiful setup for happy hour for them! I can’t complain being east coast US right now, close enough. Will probably be a game time decision for me if I can make it though, but I’m bummed I missed the 2020 calls...

Thanks to Dan, Tom, Ken, and Ahmed for joining, that was a fun two hours! We covered a bunch of topics, including masking, flaps, antennas, painting intake rings/fans, airline liveries from bygone days, building military aircraft, and how we probably ran into one another in the grocery store in the Bay Area a decade ago without realizing it.

We'll do a few more of these soon, look for another thread in the near future.

How many of our APAC/ANZ members would want one in a more accessible time slot?

I had a great time! Thanks for setting it up, Merlin. Time really flies during these get-togethers. If you're on the fence about joining these meetings, it's time to give it a try. We talk about a lot of things ranging from kits and decals to tips and tricks. Show in-progress models, discuss different ideas, and more, and more. You can really learn a lot. So, hopefully more of you can join the next one. Don't be shy.

      Regards,

      It was a fun call....
"Amazing" to me that even though we are all over the world we can talk about things and have much in common. "Funny" that Dan has California connections and lived nearby, that Ahmed and I have ATP connections with Clint Groves, and that Merlin's family is also nearby. My mom's family is from near Tom in Scotland so I know the area pretty well. Go figure...four people from around the world who had much more in common than just model airliners :-)

Thanks for setting it up Merlin.

Yeah, always is interesting to see those seemingly random connections, reminds me of how small our planet is....

One thing I had to chuckle about was Ahmed's point about some skills getting rusty. I've always struggled with airbrushing Future until I got it mostly right about a year ago, then yesterday after our call I tried doing it to clearcoat my current build, and it turned into a mess of runs and orange peel. Once I was done fuming, I had to laugh a bit. The good news is that Future issues are fixable with ammonia cleaner, so I'll give it another go soon.
