Somewhere in the last week or two, I have seen on the internet, a conversion kit for the Rolls Royce Dart engines on a Vickers Viscount Model 700. The original kit engines are Dart Mk 505 and 506 with parallel engine cowls. Later series aircraft had Mk 510 or 511 engines with a bigger compressor which needed an expanded engine cowl such as that fitted to the Viscount model 800 series. I want to make a make a later model series 700 with the bigger engine but can't find the website with the engine conversions. I thought that Kurt had them originally but not there now. To further complicate the issue, The aircraft kits which I have are Glencoe which is 1/96 scale. THree I have, were supplied with square tip props for the later model aircraft and two have needle bladed props for the earlier model aircraft.

Does anybody know if the "expanded"cowls are available in !/96 scale? My only alternative is to rob the engines from a 800 series kit.

      Hi Bob,
      do you refer to these?

      https://laci-ltd.uk/en/resin-sets-144/16-rolls-royce-dart-505506.html

      However, they are 1:144.
I am working on convincing Kurt to re-release his Viscounts and it would surely help if some enthusiasm for their re-release would pop up here

I recently bought the LACI flaps for the 757 and 737 as well as the IL76 engines and they are amazing to work with!

      Cheers and Happy New Year,

      Christian

      Interesting,

I was looking at ebay last night for 1/144 Vickers Viscount-800's and EE and F-Resin appear to be the only choices. I would like to do a Continental Vicount-800. I would love to see an AA Kit of that if that is the Viscount you are talking about. I never saw Kurts Kit of those.

      So, another vote yes!

      Thanks,

      Mark

      Hi Guys,
Many thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, the LACI kits are no good to me as I have a few Glencoe 1/96 kits to use up. If Kurt canít help me out, I will have to do my own modification in-house using the 800 series kit as a pattern. If I could get a Frog 800 kit, I would be prepared to buy it purely for the engines.
I know of the F-Resin and EE kits of the 800 series in 1/144, plus my research material collected over many years also lists 4 kits of the 800 in 1/144 and one kit of the 700 series in the same scale. The 800ís were all identical except for different liveries. The Welsh catalogue number for the 800 series models are SL140P, SL154P, SL155p and SL156P. The 700 series aircraft is SL 160P. I don't know if these are still available

At one time either Authenic Airliners or 26 did a conversion for the Hawk-Glencoe Viscount which included the correct engines,an extended forward fuselage and both radar and non radar noses.

I was sure that it was on the Authentic Airliners web-site that I saw the engine kits earlier this wek but can't find them now.
I note that the BEA Viscvount on his web site has the updated engines but it could be an 8OO as I can't see the oval doors.

      Bob,

The listing has been removed from the Accessories page (as it's not currently available), but the actual item webpage still exists:

      Thanks Scott.

I thought it was there somewhere. The site is down at the moment but I will keep onto it.
