… as announced at the IPMS-USA Nationals and reported by Gerald Voigt of Hawkeye's Hobbies on his blog: "New kit! Minicraft has in the works a new 1:144 KC-135E, which will blaze the path for future releases of other -135 variants! GOOD NEWS INDEED! They are also working on a series of Convair twin series too…T-29/C-131 and the civilian counterparts." If the KC-135 is really a KC-135 and not just a release of their 707 with different decals, we will finally have a small wing for the early 707 variants in 1/144. Michael McMurtrey |

That's great news. Glad to hear that. Hopefully the quality will be at the same level as the DC-8.

Quote And hopefully, in the interest of facilitating the building of a 707-120 from the Minicraft KC-135... the aerial refueling apparatus will be add-on type parts (as with the Minicraft KC-97/Stratocruiser kits)...rather than molded into the lower aft fuselage as with the 1/144 (1/139?) Revell KC-135 kit which required some rather involved "plastic surgery" to convert it to a 707-120. Quote I share the excitement 100%!!!! Todd |

I'm helping Minicraft with both the KC-135 and the Convair. I can state categorically that the KC-135 will *not* be a rehashed 707 (totally and completely different airplanes). Minicraft is using my master KC-135 drawings (which were also used by AMT/Ertl for their 1/72 kit), and it's still at an early stage of design at this point, so nothing is fixed in stone as yet. The Convair design hasn't started. I've found a trove of Convair technical documentation however, and as soon as that's copied and sent to the designer, we should be able to get a really nice 340/440 out of it (and maybe some other variants as well). Stay tuned now that these kits have been officially announced, and anything I can post, I will. J |

Hey everyone, Quote I'm excited to hear of the Convair twins...Minicraft should get a lot of mileage out of the basic 340/440 frames. I hope once they get the various 340/440 (580/640?) versions out....they will take a crack at the 240/600 versions as well. Good to hear Minicraft is still interested in working on airliners!
