      Hi Guys,

Doing a little building and swapping of parts.

Just thought I would mention I picked up an Eastern Express B777-300.

They did a great job on the fuselage including nose and tail fixes.

The engines (RR) landing gear, wings and tail planes are rough and need clean up.

The kit is knock off of the Minicraft kit. You can see the evidence if you examine the kit and are familiar with the Minicraft kit.

I plan on using the Welsh 777 RE-003 set for the wing tips and engines. The Engine intakes are fantastic but the main engine bodies are a little plain. So I intend to add the Welsh intakes to the Minicraft (modified) engines to get a better version of the Big GE'S.

It's too bad our friends at Platz have not continued to manufacture their wonderful Photoetch sets.

I do think the EE 777 is the best option to start with compared with the Welsh kit or Minicraft kit. It's too bad we have to mix parts and kits to get a decent 777.

Maybe Zvezda will step up and do a good triple seven???

      cheers

      Cheers

Funny, EE made a copy of Minicraft, and Minicraft is a copy of Doyusha! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.

      Hi Andrew,

May I ask how you intend to modify the MC engines? I was under the impression that the GE90-115 was a whole different animal than the GEs in the MC kit.

Not just a copy, they have modified some things. The Cockpit looks much better, it has a more detailed gear, like Zvezda 767/787, now. The EE is more difficult to build but in the end it looks better!

Wasn't too impressed with mine. On close inspection you will find that the nose section doesn't keep the same diameter forward of the fuselage joint and bulges out noticeably towards the nose. Same goes for the tail section. Apart from that, not too bad, but I'd rather hang on and see if anyone else brings out a better option. I'd still build another one of these rather than shell out four times the price for a Welsh one.

      Hi Alan,

I have Jennings Drawing of the GE90-94B / 110B to help. I am using Welsh Engine fronts attached to the Minicraft Engine/pylon ( I was rather naughty and recast the Welsh Engine fronts so I could do a few Triple Sevens). I have thinned out the back section and chopped away a bit so I could insert Fan so when you look from behind you will see fan blades. May not be perfect but looks much more effective than the Welsh engine body. The Eastern Express kit comes with the GE engines.

I'll have to get some photos posted here sometime.

      Cheers

Are you sure about the engines? Assuming you're referring to the Eastern Express Transaero 777, all the Transaero 777-300's are fitted with Roll Royce Trents, unless I'm missing something somewhere.

      Andrew,

By Welsh engine fronts, are you refering to the 777 Welsh kit engines or the recently released upgrade kit for the GE-90, also from Densil? Or are they both the same? Just wondering.

I assume Andrew is converting his to a -300ER and thus needs the bigger engines?

Since the decision of SWISS (Lufthansa) for a B777 perhaps we just have to wait for a Revell one. And than, for sure, an Aeroflot one from Zvezda will come, too.
Be patient. Its all a matter of time....

      Hi Guys,

Just to clarify I am doing a 300ER version.

The Welsh Engine fronts are the newer ones from the Conversion set RE 003

Funny thing the Eastern Express 777-300 kit comes with GE Engines not RR.Of course all copied from the Minicraft kit. I have a set of Minicraft RR 777 Engines sitting on the bench and they are much smaller than the GE's.

I like the thinking that Revell Germany or Zevezda will make a 777 but that could be a couple of years away. I'm getting too old to wait!

      cheers

Like Al says above it is an issue with the fuselage diameter.

I figure it may be an easy fix and we'll be painting shortly.

Don't hold your breath for Revell to do a 777.
