Just wondering about the quality of the decal in the Minicraft Electra EAL Hockey Stick; mostly interested in whether the colors look right. Thanks for all replies.

      Hi dpohunter,

If you are referring to the hockey stick scheme Electra kit....they are wrong.
The lighter blue line should be a light greenish-blue color....not KLM light blue as depicted on the decal sheet.

Boarded many of EA's Electras in the late 1960's to my last flight in 1977. I know the color well.

Those two colors are the downfall of many a decal sheet - they're colors that are instantly recognizable, and when a decal sheet gets one or both wrong, it ruins the whole effect. The lighter of the two, in particular, is so difficult to match.

So far as Electra decals go, although it may be hard to find (and has a couple tiny issues that bother me), the Scaleliners sheet is your best bet so far. I'm hoping someone like Vintage Flyer will release decals for this scheme, especially since there were a couple rare but very interesting variations you could build with the right supplements.

In 1924 Wien was Alaska's first airline. In 1980 it still is.

Thanks, guys. That's what I suspected. Hard to get those two blues correct on the same sheet. Decales Global just released this scheme for the Electra. Looks very good IMHO.
